RCB Poised for Victory Against DC in IPL 2026 Showdown
Expert Insights on Upcoming IPL Clash
Deep Dasgupta, a former Indian cricketer, predicts that the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will have the upper hand against the Delhi Capitals (DC) in their IPL 2026 match scheduled for Monday. He attributes this advantage to Delhi's recent struggles and RCB's impressive all-around performance this season. Speaking as a JioStar expert on Star Sports, Dasgupta highlighted Delhi's recent heavy loss to the Punjab Kings (PBKS) as a significant factor.
"RCB seems to have the advantage going into their match against DC, especially considering DC's lack of confidence following their last match against Punjab," he stated.
Concerns Over DC's Recent Performance
Dasgupta pointed out that while Delhi's high score in their last game showcased their batting capabilities, their bowling and fielding left much to be desired. Despite KL Rahul's impressive unbeaten score of 152, the Delhi Capitals faced a six-wicket defeat against the Punjab Kings, who successfully chased down a record 265 runs at Arun Jaitley Stadium on Saturday. Dasgupta remarked, "Failing to defend a score of 264 can be demoralizing for the team. However, scoring over 260 indicates that they are doing something right. Unfortunately, their bowling and fielding were not up to par."
RCB's Strong Performance
Focusing on RCB, Dasgupta commended their current form and balanced performances, particularly in bowling. "RCB is showcasing an incredible style of cricket at the moment, and their bowling appears to be in excellent shape," he noted.
Potential Impact of Phil Salt's Absence
He also mentioned that the absence of opener Phil Salt could pose a challenge, but he sees potential in Jacob Bethell stepping up. "The only concern might be Phil Salt's absence at the top of the order. However, Jacob Bethell, who shone during the T20 World Cup, could form a formidable left-right opening partnership with Virat Kohli," Dasgupta added.
Currently, the defending champions RCB sit in second place on the points table with 10 points, aiming to solidify their standing as the tournament progresses.
