Jadeja and Sharma Make Waves in ICC Rankings
Dubai: Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has solidified his position as the top all-rounder in Test cricket, while Abhishek Sharma has ascended to the number one spot in T20 rankings for the first time.
According to the latest ICC Men’s Test Player Rankings, Jadeja has increased his lead to 422 rating points, 117 points ahead of Bangladesh's Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who is in second place.
Meanwhile, Travis Head's year-long reign at the top of the T20 rankings came to an end after he missed the five-match series in the Caribbean, which Australia won 5-0. This allowed Sharma to climb to the top with 829 rating points, leaving Head in second with 814 points.
The ICC noted, "Jadeja has expanded his lead at the top of the all-rounder rankings after taking four wickets and scoring a resilient 107 not out."
He gained 13 rating points, bringing his total to 422, significantly ahead of Mehidy Hasan. Additionally, he has moved up five spots to 29th among batters and one spot to 14th among bowlers.
Washington Sundar also made notable progress, rising eight places to 65th after achieving his first Test century and forming a 203-run partnership with Jadeja for the fifth wicket, which helped secure a remarkable draw in the fourth Test at Manchester.
Sundar's performance also included two wickets, allowing him to climb to joint-13th among all-rounders.
Joe Root has further extended his lead as the top-ranked batter in Tests, now 37 points ahead of Kane Williamson. England's captain Ben Stokes has moved up three places to third among all-rounders, marking his highest ranking since December 2022.
Root scored an impressive 150 in England's only innings at Manchester, while Stokes contributed with a five-wicket haul and a valuable 141 runs.
In the bowling rankings, Jofra Archer has made a strong return after four years, moving up 38 places to 63rd after taking three wickets. Chris Woakes also improved his ranking, moving up one spot to 23rd.
