Ashwin Bids Farewell to IPL
Renowned Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin surprised the cricket community by declaring his retirement from the Indian Premier League (IPL) on August 27. In the previous IPL season, he represented the Chennai Super Kings, participating in nine matches.
There were rumors suggesting that Ashwin had communicated his decision to the Chennai Super Kings, but the 38-year-old sought clarification from the management regarding his future role in the 2026 IPL season. This indicated his willingness to part ways with the franchise if he was not included in their plans.
After much speculation about his departure from CSK, Ashwin has officially decided to conclude his IPL career and will now pursue opportunities in various Global T20 Leagues.
He expressed his sentiments on social media, stating, "Special day and hence a special beginning. They say every ending will have a new start; my time as an IPL cricketer comes to a close today, but my journey as an explorer of the game in different leagues begins now."
Ashwin also extended his gratitude to all franchises for the cherished memories and relationships he built over the years, particularly thanking the IPL and BCCI for their contributions to his career.
