Rashee Rice's Legal Troubles

Rashee Rice has been sentenced to 30 days in jail after testing positive for THC, which breached the conditions of his probation stemming from a serious multi-vehicle accident in Dallas in 2024. According to court records, Rice was taken into custody and is expected to be released on June 16.

The 25-year-old wide receiver had previously admitted guilt to two third-degree felony charges linked to the high-speed incident, where he was reported to be driving erratically at speeds nearing 120 mph before fleeing the scene. Following the crash, Rice accepted accountability and received a sentence that included five years of probation, a 30-day jail term, and a requirement to pay over $115,000 in restitution for the medical costs incurred by the victims.

As per filings from Dallas County, Rice's positive test for THC constituted a violation of his probation terms, prompting the jail sentence issued on May 19. This jail time is likely to coincide with the Kansas City Chiefs' OTA offseason workouts and mandatory minicamp.

Previously, Rice missed the first six games of the last season after the NFL ruled he breached the league's personal conduct policy due to the Dallas incident. He concluded the season with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five touchdowns, while the Kansas City Chiefs ended with a 6-11 record, missing the playoffs.
