Ranveer Mitroo Shines at Asia-Pacific Golf Championship, India Tied for Second
India's Strong Performance at the APGC Junior Championship
New Delhi [India], May 29: In a remarkable display of skill, Delhi's Ranveer Mitroo delivered another impressive round of two-under 69, propelling India to a tied second position in the boys' team event alongside fellow golfer Krish Chawla at the Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation (APGC) Junior Championship held at the Hong Kong Golf Club.
With a cumulative score of one-under 283, the Indian team trails the leading Thai duo of Parin Sarasmut and Warut Boonrod by six strokes. The Indian Golf Union (IGU) has fielded a four-member squad for this prestigious tournament organized by the APGC.
On an individual level, Ranveer has secured the fourth spot in the boys' individual competition. Krish made significant progress, moving up from a tied 16th position to finish the second round in 15th place with a total score of three-over 145 after carding a two-over 73. Thailand's Parin Sarasmut shot an impressive five-under 66, sharing the lead with Vietnam's Tuan Anh Nguyen, both at eight-under 134.
Ranveer's round included five consecutive pars before he birdied the sixth hole from five feet after his approach shot landed just short of the flag. Despite a bogey on the seventh, he quickly recovered with back-to-back birdies on the eighth and ninth holes. On the back nine, he added birdies on holes 14, 17, and 18, although he faced a double bogey on the 10th and another bogey on the 12th.
Reflecting on his performance, Ranveer commented, “Round 2 was great, but I made several mistakes. I recorded six birdies, one double bogey, and two bogeys, finishing with a score of 69 (-2). Currently, I am in fourth place among 32 amateurs after two rounds. My tee shots and approaches were decent, and my putting and chipping were good, but I missed several close-range opportunities today.”
In the girls' individual event, Saanvi Somu achieved a three-under 69, moving up to a tie for ninth place, while her teammate Kashika Mishra struggled with a 10-over 82 due to a viral illness.
After Round 2, the Indian duo of Kashika and Saanvi ranked seventh with a combined score of 11-over 299. In the mixed team category, Krish and Saanvi are currently tied for 10th place at five-over 289.
