In a nail-biting contest of the Indian Football League 2025-26, Rajasthan United secured a 3-2 victory against Namdhari Sports Academy, thanks to a last-minute goal by Amadou Soukouna. The match took place at the Vidhyadhar Nagar Stadium in Jaipur on Friday.
Soukouna opened the scoring for the home team in the 13th minute, followed by Pedro Astray extending the lead in the 57th minute.
Namdhari made a late surge, equalizing with goals from Manvir Singh in the 83rd minute and Najib Ibrahim in the 90th minute. However, Soukouna's decisive strike in the sixth minute of stoppage time clinched the win for Rajasthan United.
With this victory, Rajasthan United moved up to fourth place in the league standings, accumulating four points from three matches, while Namdhari remained in ninth with just two points.
Rajasthan United's head coach, Vikrant Sharma, made five changes for this home match, introducing players like Gautam Virwani and Jonathan Reis, while Namdhari's coach, Harpreet Singh, opted for a single change, bringing in Abdoulaye Diallo.
Namdhari struggled initially, allowing Soukouna to capitalize on a defensive error, scoring from close range. He nearly added another goal shortly after, but a crucial clearance from defender Lamine Moro kept the scoreline intact.
Rajasthan continued to apply pressure, with Astray hitting the post and Shafeel PP forcing a save from Namdhari's goalkeeper.
As the match progressed, Namdhari began to find their rhythm, creating opportunities, especially from set-pieces. However, Rajasthan's goalkeeper, Bhabindra Malla Thakuri, made several key saves to maintain the lead.
In the second half, Niraj Kumar, Namdhari's goalkeeper, denied a powerful free kick from Astray, but Rajasthan doubled their lead shortly after. Pedro Astray scored his second goal of the season after a rebound fell into his path.
Namdhari faced a setback when defender Moro received two yellow cards in quick succession, leaving them with ten men. Despite this, they managed to score through Manvir Singh, who capitalized on a deflected cross.
Namdhari equalized dramatically with a goal from Najib Ibrahim, who finished a low cross from Jaskaranpreet Singh.
Just when it seemed the match would end in a draw, Rajasthan United found a breakthrough in injury time. A long ball was headed into the path of Soukouna, who scored with a powerful header, igniting celebrations among the home fans.
