Vaibhav Suryavanshi's Rise in IPL 2025

The young batting talent from Rajasthan Royals, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, has caught the attention of cricket enthusiasts and experts alike, thanks to his impressive performances in IPL 2025. His coach, Ashok Kumar, has shared insights regarding Suryavanshi's potential future with Team India.

Suryavanshi, who was acquired for INR 1.1 crore during the IPL 2025 Auction, has proven his worth by scoring a record-breaking century against Gujarat Titans and contributing a solid 57 runs off 34 balls against Punjab Kings, both leading to victories for his team.

At just 14 years old, this cricketer from Bihar is being hailed as a future star, with many believing he could soon make his mark on the Indian national team if he maintains his current form. His fearless batting style and ability to transition smoothly from the U19 level to the IPL have earned him accolades from former players.

Coach Ashok Kumar Discusses Vaibhav's Mindset

In a conversation with a news outlet, Ashok Kumar highlighted Suryavanshi's winning mentality, which has been evident since his childhood. This was particularly showcased during his remarkable 35-ball century against Gujarat Titans. Kumar noted that with the guidance of Rahul Dravid and Vikram Rathour, Suryavanshi's batting has significantly improved.

"His practice with the white ball has paid off, and he has learned to assess game situations effectively," Kumar remarked. He predicts that if Suryavanshi enhances his fitness and fielding skills, he could debut for the senior T20 Indian team within two years.

"The BCCI is likely to give him a chance, especially since most players in the T20I squad are under 25 years old," he added.

Upcoming Challenges for Vaibhav Suryavanshi

Following IPL 2025, Suryavanshi will join the India U19 squad for a tour of England, where they will compete in a five-match ODI series and two multi-day games against the England U19 team, starting June 24. This tour marks his first experience in challenging overseas conditions, paving the way for the next Men's U19 World Cup co-hosted by Zimbabwe and Namibia.

If Suryavanshi performs well in the England series, he is likely to be selected for the 2026 U19 World Cup. The tour will test his adaptability to seaming conditions against strong opponents, as he and his teammates, including captain Ayush Mhatre, aim to secure their spots for the World Cup.

Confidence in Vaibhav's Performance

Coach Ashok Kumar expressed strong confidence in Suryavanshi's upcoming performance in England, emphasizing that his current form and mindset will remain consistent. "Vaibhav is poised to excel on the U19 tour, and what we witnessed in the IPL is just a glimpse of his capabilities. His style of play has been consistent since his U19 days in Bihar," Kumar stated.

"His quick adaptability to different situations sets him apart. While some may label him as an aggressive player, this has been his natural style since childhood. His intent and approach will continue to shine in future matches."

In his inaugural IPL season, Vaibhav Suryavanshi has accumulated 252 runs, including a century and a fifty, boasting an average of 36.00 and an impressive strike rate of 206.56 across seven matches.
