Rajasthan Royals Secure Victory in IPL 2026 Match

Lucknow: In a gripping encounter at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Rajasthan Royals clinched a 40-run victory against Lucknow Super Giants in their IPL 2026 clash. Ravindra Jadeja played a pivotal role, scoring an unbeaten 43 off 29 balls, while Jofra Archer delivered an impressive bowling performance, taking 3 wickets for just 20 runs.

Rajasthan Royals managed to post a total of 159 runs for 6 wickets in their allotted 20 overs, thanks to Jadeja's crucial partnership with Shubham Dubey, who contributed 19 runs off 11 balls. The LSG bowlers, including Mohammed Shami, Mohsin Khan, and Prince Yadav, each took two wickets, putting pressure on RR's batting lineup.

When it came to defending their total, RR's bowlers were on point from the start, leading to LSG's fourth consecutive defeat in the tournament. Nandre Burger and Brijesh Sharma also supported Archer with two wickets each, while Jadeja and Ravi Bishnoi chipped in with one wicket apiece, restricting LSG to a mere 119 runs in 18 overs.

Choosing to bowl first, LSG struggled early on as Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi hit six boundaries in the first three overs. However, Shami's double strike in the third over halted RR's momentum, dismissing both Jaiswal and Dhruv Jurel.

Mohsin Khan made history by bowling a maiden over to Sooryavanshi, who eventually fell to a catch at cover. Prince Yadav continued the pressure by taking out Riyan Parag and Donovan Ferreira, leaving RR in a precarious position at 110 for 6.

Jadeja's late surge, scoring 20 runs in the final over against Mayank Yadav, helped RR finish strong, which seemed unlikely at the 15-over mark.

LSG's chase began poorly, with Ayush Badoni run out for a duck due to a mix-up. Captain Rishabh Pant's struggles continued as he fell for a duck as well. Archer's return to the attack saw him dismiss Aiden Markram, leaving LSG in dire straits at 16 for 3.

Despite Mitchell Marsh's valiant effort, scoring a 39-ball fifty, he lacked support from his teammates. The middle order collapsed under pressure, with Pooran and Himmat Singh falling quickly. Archer returned to finish the innings, sealing the match with a spectacular catch and a wicket to give RR their first away victory of the season.
