Rajasthan Royals' Off-Field Issues Amid Strong Performance

The Rajasthan Royals are currently performing well in the IPL 2026 season, securing 6 victories out of 10 matches. However, the franchise has recently attracted attention due to disciplinary issues off the field, which have raised concerns with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) regarding repeated breaches of protocol by team members.

Recent Protocol Violations

One notable incident involved the team's manager, Romi Bhinder, who was penalized for using a mobile phone during a match against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru at Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati. As a result, he received a fine of INR 1 lakh and a warning from the BCCI's Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU).

Additionally, RR captain Riyan Parag found himself in hot water after he was spotted vaping in the dressing room during a game against the Punjab Kings in Mullanpur. This led to a fine amounting to 25% of his match fee for violating IPL conduct regulations.

BCCI's Response to Repeated Violations

In light of these ongoing issues, the BCCI has indicated a more stringent approach towards the Rajasthan Royals to ensure adherence to IPL regulations and maintain discipline among franchises. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia mentioned that the board is considering tougher measures to address team violations and is reviewing existing protocols to enhance discipline and safeguard the league's reputation.

"We are exploring additional options to address teams that violate the norms," Saikia stated, as reported by ESPN Cricinfo. He emphasized the need for all teams to uphold decorum to protect the IPL's image.

The BCCI's increased scrutiny reflects its commitment to enforcing stricter discipline across IPL franchises, ensuring that repeated conduct violations are dealt with decisively to maintain the tournament's professional standards.

Other Conduct-Related Incidents

Besides the Rajasthan Royals, other players such as Tim David from RCB, Nitish Rana from DC, and Angkrish Raghuvanshi from KKR have also faced fines or warnings for separate on-field conduct issues. This trend underscores the BCCI's determination to uphold discipline across the league.
