Sindhu's Impressive Performance
PV Sindhu, a two-time Olympic medalist and five-time BWF World Championship medalist, continued her remarkable journey at the Daihatsu Japan Open 2026, a BWF Super 750 event, by defeating World No. 5 Han Yue in straight games on Thursday.
Having secured her place in the quarterfinals, Sindhu is set to compete against former World No. 1 Nozomi Okuhara from Japan for a chance to reach the semifinals on Friday.
In their latest encounter, Sindhu showcased her skills by taking an early lead in the first game, ultimately finishing with a score of 21-16. She maintained her momentum in the second game, jumping to an 8-0 lead and concluding the match with a score of 21-16, 21-14 in just 35 minutes.
This marks Sindhu's sixth quarterfinal appearance this season, following her previous performances in Indonesia, Thailand, and Singapore, where she reached the last eight, and her semifinal finishes in Malaysia and Australia.
Mixed Doubles Challenge Concludes
In other news, India's mixed doubles campaign came to an end as Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto faced a tough match against China's Feng Yan Zhe and Huang Dong Ping, losing 22-20, 21-17 in the Round of 16.
