Purani Dilli 6 Claims Victory
In a thrilling match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Tuesday, Purani Dilli 6 secured a 20-run victory against North Delhi Strikers in the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2026.
Gaur and Lakra Shine with Fifties
Opting to bat first, Purani Dilli 6 set a formidable target of 211 runs for 6 wickets in their allotted 20 overs, thanks to stellar performances from Aryan Gaur and Dev Lakra. The opening pair of Gaur and Samarth Seth provided a brisk start, contributing 48 runs before Seth was dismissed for 25 runs off 13 balls.
Following Seth's exit, Gaur and Lakra formed a dominant partnership, amassing 109 runs for the second wicket. Gaur showcased his batting prowess with a score of 75 runs off 42 balls, while Lakra supported him well with 66 runs off 40 balls. Although the team faced a minor setback with the loss of Gaur and Lakra in quick succession, they had already established a solid foundation with their total of 211 runs.
North Delhi Strikers' Chase Falls Short
In pursuit of 212 runs, North Delhi Strikers began their innings positively. The opening duo of Yash Dabas and captain Sarthak Ranjan put together a partnership of 67 runs. Dabas was aggressive during the powerplay, scoring 37 runs off 17 balls before being caught by Rohan Rathi off Udhav Mohan's bowling. Ranjan continued to build momentum alongside Yash Bhatia, adding another 64 runs for the second wicket before Bhatia was dismissed for 38 runs off 22 balls.
Ranjan's impressive innings of 78 runs off 51 balls kept the Strikers in contention. However, as the match progressed, they required 36 runs from the last three overs. Purani Dilli 6 maintained their composure in the final overs, with Rajneesh Dadar delivering a remarkable 18th over that conceded only two runs, leaving the Strikers needing 34 runs from the final 12 balls. Ajay Ahlawat followed up with another economical over, allowing just 10 runs, which meant the Strikers needed 24 runs in the last over. Ultimately, they fell short, finishing at 191 runs for 4 wickets in 20 overs.
