In a thrilling IPL 2026 match at Mullanpur, Punjab Kings (PBKS) achieved a remarkable feat by scoring 254 runs for the loss of 7 wickets against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). This impressive total was bolstered by explosive performances from Priyansh Arya and Cooper Connolly, who both delivered innings reminiscent of centuries. Although PBKS faced a few late wickets, they dominated the game for the majority of the innings, showcasing a powerful top-order batting display that dismantled several bowlers. This score stands as the highest of the season, presenting a daunting challenge for LSG in their chase.
Strong Start Despite Early Setback
Punjab Kings began their innings with a rocky start, losing opener Prabhsimran Singh for a golden duck, thanks to an early strike from LSG's Mohammed Shami. However, Priyansh Arya and Cooper Connolly quickly stabilized the innings, bringing the score to 26/1 after three overs.
The duo accelerated in the sixth over, scoring 20 runs off Mohsin Khan, which helped PBKS finish the powerplay at a solid 63/1.
Priyansh Arya reached a remarkable half-century in just 19 balls during the ninth over, marking his second fifty of the season and the fourth of his IPL career. By the end of the tenth over, PBKS had established a commanding position at 110/1.
In the next over, Cooper Connolly also reached his half-century off 34 balls, contributing to PBKS's impressive score of 129/1.
Record-Breaking Batting Display
The aggressive batting continued in the 12th over, where Priyansh Arya and Connolly scored 18 runs off Avesh Khan, maintaining their high scoring rate.
They then unleashed a fierce attack on off-spinner Aiden Markram, accumulating 32 runs in one over, which included five massive sixes. This over became the most expensive for an LSG bowler in IPL history, surpassing the previous record of 27 runs conceded by Ravi Bishnoi against RCB in the 2022 Eliminator.
LSG Attempts a Comeback
In the 14th over, pacer Prince Yadav ended the explosive partnership by dismissing Cooper Connolly, who scored a blistering 87 off 46 balls, including eight fours and seven sixes. This wicket concluded a massive 182-run partnership for the second wicket.
The momentum shifted further when Manimaran Siddharth took the wicket of Priyansh Arya, who scored a sensational 93 off 37 balls, featuring four boundaries and nine sixes. Arya fell just short of a century after a dominant innings.
PBKS faced another setback as they lost their third wicket quickly, with Mohsin Khan dismissing skipper Shreyas Iyer for just five runs, leaving them at 196/4 after 16 overs.
Siddharth claimed his second wicket by removing Nehal Wadhera for 13 runs, as PBKS reached 214/5 in 17 overs.
Impressive Finish Despite Late Wickets
In the 19th over, Marcus Stoinis and Shashank Singh added crucial runs, scoring 20 runs and bringing PBKS to 249/5. However, the final over saw a slight collapse, with PBKS managing only five runs while losing both Shashank Singh (17) and Marcus Stoinis (29).
Despite these late losses, PBKS concluded their innings at a staggering 254/7, marking the highest total of the season, surpassing Royal Challengers Bengaluru's 250/3 against Chennai Super Kings. For LSG, Manimaran Siddharth (2/35) and Prince Yadav (2/25) were the standout bowlers, each taking two wickets.
