Final Events Set to Shape PPA Tour Finals

The PPA Tour season for 2025–2026 is reaching its critical juncture, with just two major events left on the calendar. The upcoming tournaments in Sacramento and Atlanta will play a pivotal role in finalizing the participants for the PPA Tour Finals, which are slated to take place from May 4 to 10 in San Clemente, California. These competitions provide the last chance for players to accumulate essential ranking points necessary for qualification. The Finals, an invite-only event, will showcase the top athletes across various disciplines and will utilize a pool play format instead of the conventional knockout style. Qualification hinges on the Race rankings, which reflect the total points earned since the 2025 Atlanta Pickleball Championships. To secure a spot, players must rank within the top eight in singles and mixed doubles, or the top 16 in men’s doubles. Unlike the ongoing PPA rankings, the Race emphasizes consistent participation and performance throughout the season. A total of 3,000 points are still up for grabs, with 1,000 points available at the Sacramento Open and 2,000 at the Atlanta Championships, setting the stage for an exciting conclusion.

Men’s Singles: Qualification Tensions Rise

Chris Haworth currently leads the men’s singles standings with 13,600 points, closely followed by Federico Staksrud and Hunter Johnson. However, the most intense competition is occurring around the qualification cut line. Only 100 points separate seventh-placed John Lucian Goins from ninth-placed Gabe Joseph. With Goins not participating in Sacramento, both Jack Sock and Joseph have a significant opportunity to break into the top eight. A potential semifinal clash between Sock and Joseph could be on the horizon, although both will face challenging matchups against Haworth and Johnson, respectively.

Men’s Doubles: Race for Final Qualification Spots

In the men’s doubles category, Gabe Tardio and Ben Johns are comfortably positioned at the top, but the competition for the final qualification spots is extremely tight. Jaume Martinez Vich currently holds the 16th position with 4,150 points, just ahead of Augie Ge, who has 4,075 points. Both players are set to compete in Sacramento, with Martinez Vich partnering with Blaine Hovenier and Ge teaming up with Dekel Bar. Matt Wright, who is currently in 15th place, will not be competing, allowing both Martinez Vich and Ge the chance to improve their standings with strong performances.

Men’s Mixed Doubles: Khlif and Oncins in Close Contest

The race for the final qualifying spot in mixed doubles is shaping up to be a direct contest between Noe Khlif and Eric Oncins, with Jonathan Truong still in the mix. All three players will participate in Sacramento, with Khlif partnering with Meghan Dizon, Oncins with Tyra Black, and Truong with Jessie Irvine. With only a few points separating them, the outcomes of the next two events will be crucial.
