Phantom Stars Secure Sanil Shetty as Top Pick in Butterfly TTSL Maharashtra 2026 Auction

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], March 13: The defending champions, Phantom Stars, have bolstered their roster for the upcoming Butterfly Table Tennis Super League Maharashtra 2026 by acquiring Commonwealth Games gold medalist Sanil Shetty for ₹69,500 during the player auction. Meanwhile, the young talent Divyanshi Bhowmick once again made headlines as the most expensive player, joining Mumbai Mozartt for ₹73,000.
Divyanshi, celebrated for her remarkable skills and a gold medalist at the Asian Youth and Cadet Table Tennis Championships, continued to shine in the auction following her successful performances on the international youth circuit. Additionally, Jash Modi was signed by Bayside Spinners TTC for ₹71,000, as reported in a press release.
Other notable acquisitions included Reeth Rishya, who joined PBG Pune Jaguars for ₹61,500, and Shouren Soman, who was picked up by newcomers NPV Smashers for the same amount. Commonwealth Games medalist Madhurika Patkar added her experience to the roster of debutants Jolly Friends Sports Club, signing for ₹51,500.
Each of the eight teams in the Butterfly TTSL Maharashtra 2026 was allocated a budget of ₹2,50,000 to assemble their squads across six categories: U-13 Boys, U-17 Girls, U-17 Boys, Senior Women, Senior Men, and Veterans, ensuring a competitive blend of emerging talents and experienced players.
The Ultimate Table Tennis league, Butterfly TTSL, aims to enhance grassroots talent development and elevate the level of competition at the state level. Scheduled from April 30 to May 3, the event will showcase some of Maharashtra's finest players in a professional league format.
The tournament will consist of eight teams divided into two groups of four, with each team playing five matches in the league stage—competing against all teams in their group once and two from the opposite group. Each match will feature nine games, totaling 27 games per tie. Teams earn one point for each game won, and the team that secures 14 or more games will be declared the winner of that tie.
All games will be played to 11 points, with a Golden Point rule at 10-10 to determine the winner, ensuring thrilling contests across categories such as Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles, U-17 Boys, U-17 Girls, U-13 Boys, and Veterans, along with doubles and mixed doubles matches.
A total prize pool of ₹8.5 lakh will be available, including individual awards, with the champions receiving ₹3,50,000, the runners-up ₹1,75,000, and the losing semi-finalists ₹1,00,000 each.
