Pat Cummins Confirms Absence from Upcoming IPL Matches

Pat Cummins, the captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), has announced that he will not participate in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 match against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on April 18. Additionally, he will also miss the game against the Delhi Capitals scheduled for April 21. This information was shared by Cummins in response to a fan's inquiry on his Instagram account.


Cummins Aims for Return on April 25


The SRH skipper has set his sights on returning for the match against the Rajasthan Royals on April 25. He mentioned on Instagram, "Fly back Friday. Aiming for 25th vs RR," indicating his plans to rejoin the team.


Recovering from Back Injury


Cummins is currently undergoing rehabilitation for a back injury. Reports indicate that he has left the IPL 2026 camp to return to Australia for a final assessment of his injury. Since July of the previous year, he has had limited playtime, participating in only one Ashes Test in Adelaide. He has recently resumed bowling in practice sessions and is gradually increasing his workload as part of his recovery plan.


Ishan Kishan Takes Over as Captain


In Cummins' absence, Indian wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan will lead the SRH team for the remainder of the season.
