Pakistan's Dominance in Hong Kong Sixes

On October 30, the highly anticipated clash between India and Pakistan unfolded in Match 7 of the Hong Kong Sixes 2026. Pakistan's captain, Abbas Afridi, won the toss and opted to bowl first, successfully limiting India to a score of 88 runs for the loss of five wickets in their six overs. Shashank Singh was the standout performer for India, scoring a rapid 40 runs off just 11 balls.

In response, Pakistan chased down the target of 89 runs in a mere 3.5 overs, led by Khawaja Nafay's explosive innings of 41 runs off 12 balls and a swift 35 runs off 8 balls from Abbas Afridi, securing a comfortable four-wicket victory.

India's Innings Overview

India began their innings with Rahul Tripathi and Nitish Rana, managing to score 11 runs in the first over. However, Muhammad Shahzad struck early for Pakistan, dismissing Tripathi for 9 runs off 5 balls. Shashank Singh entered at No. 3 and quickly made an impact, scoring 16 runs off just 3 deliveries, bringing India's total to 22 runs in that over.

Pakistan's captain, Abbas Afridi, showcased his bowling skills in the third over, restricting Nitish Rana and allowing only 11 runs. At the halfway mark, India stood at 44/1, aiming to accelerate their scoring in the remaining overs.

Shashank continued his aggressive approach in the fourth over, hitting 24 runs, including three sixes and a boundary. With Nitish struggling at 19 runs off 14 balls, India decided to retire him, bringing Rahul Tewatia to the crease. Unfortunately, Tewatia was dismissed for a golden duck, followed by India’s captain Krunal Pandya, who also fell for a golden duck on the next ball. Abdul Samad's over was economical, conceding just 10 runs and leaving India at 78/4 after five overs. Shashank's innings ended with his dismissal by Ahmed Daniyal on the first ball of the final over, and India concluded their innings at 88/5.

Pakistan's Chase and Victory

In pursuit of 89 runs, Pakistan started aggressively with Abbas Afridi and Khawaja Nafay at the crease. Afridi targeted India's captain Krunal Pandya, hitting five consecutive sixes to accumulate 31 runs in the first over. The pressure continued as Pakistan scored 28 runs off T. Natarajan's bowling in the next over, firmly taking control of the chase.

By the halfway point, Pakistan was cruising at 73/1. Krunal Pandya turned to Shashank Singh for a breakthrough, who managed to dismiss the dangerous Abbas Afridi for 35 runs off just 8 balls. However, this did little to halt Pakistan's momentum, as Khawaja Nafay continued his impressive performance, finishing unbeaten on 41 runs off 12 balls, including two fours and five sixes. Irfan Khan then hit the winning runs, leading Pakistan to a total of 89 runs in just 3.5 overs.

With this victory, the defending champions marked their first win in the Hong Kong Sixes 2026, overcoming their arch-rivals India by four wickets. If India secures a win against UAE in their next match, all three teams in Group C will have equal points, with qualification for the Cup Category determined by the number of sixes hit.
