Pakistan Triumphs in U19 Asia Cup Final
In the final match of the Under-19 Asia Cup 2025 held on Sunday, Pakistan secured a remarkable victory against India by 191 runs, claiming the championship title. The joy of Mohsin Naqvi, the Chairman of the Asian Cricket Council, was evident on camera as he witnessed the match from the stands. Naqvi, who also serves as the head of the Pakistan Cricket Board and the country's Interior Minister, was set to present the trophy to the winning team.
According to reports, Pakistan won the toss and opted to bat first, amassing a total of 347 runs in their 50 overs. Samir Minhas delivered a stunning performance, scoring 172 runs off 113 balls, marking the highest individual score for Pakistan in youth ODIs. Faced with a daunting target, the Indian batting lineup faltered completely. Pakistani fast bowlers Ali Raza, Mohammad Sayyam, and Abdul Subhan collectively took eight wickets, leading to India being bowled out for just 156 runs.
During the final overs of India's innings, as the team lost its ninth wicket, Mohsin Naqvi's smile was captured by the cameras from the stands. After the match concluded, he was seen celebrating with the players and greeting fans near the boundary.
It is noteworthy that Naqvi has been in the spotlight during previous Asia Cup events as well. In September, a controversy arose regarding the trophy handover after India's victory in the senior Asia Cup final, where the Indian team formally declined to accept the trophy. Additionally, in November 2025, during the Rising Stars Asia Cup (Emerging Teams) final held in Doha, Naqvi presented the trophy to the winning Pakistan Shaheens. The recent U19 final once again highlighted the competitive and emotional rivalry between India and Pakistan.
