Odisha Women Triumph in Rugby 7s Championship


Rajgir (Bihar): In a stunning display of skill, the Odisha women's rugby team secured a remarkable 27-0 victory against the reigning champions, Bihar, to clinch the title at the 13th Senior National Rugby 7s Championship held here on Friday. Nirmalya Rout was a standout performer, contributing 15 points with three tries, while Tarulata Naik added another 10 points through two tries. Parbati Hansdah also made her mark on the scoreboard, ensuring a decisive win and marking Odisha's third national title in just six years. In the battle for third place, West Bengal triumphed over Delhi with a score of 26-0, with contributions from Riya Oraon (7 points), Rima Oraon (5 points), Namista Oraon (5 points), and Sandhya Rai (9 points). In the semifinals, Odisha defeated West Bengal 31-7, while Bihar overcame Delhi with a score of 33-7. The men's tournament is scheduled for April 20-21.
