Bhubaneswar (Odisha) is gearing up to welcome the World Athletics Continental Tour Bronze competition, marking its inaugural event at the Kalinga Stadium on August 10.


On Friday, Odisha's Sports Minister, Suryabanshi Suraj, conducted a review of the preparations underway at the venue.


“It is a significant honor for us to host the World Athletics Continental Tour Bronze in Odisha for the first time. We are thoroughly prepared to ensure its success,” the minister stated during the review, as noted in an official press release.


The meeting aimed to guarantee a smooth experience for both athletes and spectators, focusing on top-notch sporting facilities, hospitality, and security measures.


The Minister highlighted that careful planning is in place for all elements, including athlete safety, crowd control, and police deployment. He assured that comprehensive administrative strategies are being implemented to facilitate the event's smooth execution.


Over 200 athletes from 19 nations are anticipated to compete in 20 different events. Odisha's role in hosting this internationally recognized athletics competition is seen as a significant step towards establishing the state as a leading sports hub in India.


Minister Suraj expressed confidence that athletes from Odisha will showcase their talents and bring pride to the state during the World Athletics Continental Tour Bronze event.


The preparation review meeting included key figures such as Sachin Ramchandra Jadhav, Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the Sports and Youth Services Department, Dr. Yeddula Vijay, Director of the Sports and Youth Services Department, Narasingha Bhol, Additional Commissioner of Police in Bhubaneswar, Deepankar Mahapatra, CEO of the Hockey Promotion Council in Odisha, and Bijay Kumar Swain, Additional Secretary, along with Ashok Kumar Panda, Additional Secretary of the Sports and Youth Services Department.
