Odisha Shines with Gold Medals at Khelo India Tribal Games: A Day of Triumph

On Day 8 of the Khelo India Tribal Games, Odisha showcased its athletic talent by winning four gold medals, bringing its total to 17. Odisha's Medal Chase Continues


In Raipur, Odisha's athletics team made significant strides on Day 8 of the Khelo India Tribal Games, securing four gold medals and raising their total to 17 gold, 10 silver, and 16 bronze medals. The standout performances came from Dayanidhi Munda in the men's 800m, Roshan Khadia in the men's 400m hurdles, Dipa Kisan in the women's high jump, and Dhanmati Xess in the women's javelin throw.


Jharkhand also made its mark, enhancing its position in the medal standings with gold medals in the women's 400m hurdles and the 10km race walk, bringing their total to 19 medals, including nine golds.


Karnataka maintained its lead with golds from race walker Dasharath Talawar and middle-distance runner Nagini, pushing their gold medal count to 21 and overall tally to 36 medals. Dasharath finished the men's 10km race walk in 45:13.85s, while Nagini dominated the women's 800m with a time of 2:13.80s. Chhattisgarh's Gajendra Thakur earned silver in the men's 800m, clocking 1:53.82s.


In hockey, Chhattisgarh's men's team secured a bronze medal by defeating Madhya Pradesh 14-6, bringing their total to two gold, eight silver, and five bronze medals, placing them 10th overall. In football, Chhattisgarh triumphed over Arunachal Pradesh 3-2, with captain Akhilesh Kumar Uikey scoring twice. Meanwhile, West Bengal advanced to the finals by defeating Goa 5-2.
