Djokovic's Withdrawal Announcement

Novak Djokovic, the renowned Serbian tennis player, has officially withdrawn from the upcoming Mutua Madrid Open, as confirmed by the tournament organizers on Friday.


The former ATP world No. 1 last played at the BNP Paribas Open in March and subsequently missed the Miami Open later that month due to a right shoulder injury. Djokovic has won the Madrid Open three times, with his latest victory occurring in 2019.

Recent Performance Challenges

At 38 years old, Djokovic faced setbacks recently, losing to Carlos Alcaraz in the Australian Open final in February and being defeated by Jack Draper in the fourth round at the BNP Paribas Open last month. He withdrew from the Miami Open due to his shoulder injury.


Draper achieved a significant milestone by defeating Djokovic in a thrilling Round 16 match at the Indian Wells Open, winning 4-6, 6-4, 7-6(5) in a tightly contested battle.
