New Zealand Bowlers Surge in ICC T20I Rankings Following Series Against South Africa
New Zealand Fast Bowlers Rise in Rankings
The latest ICC Men's T20I rankings reflect a notable improvement for New Zealand's fast bowlers, thanks to their strong performances in the current series against South Africa.
Throughout the five-match series, the momentum has shifted back and forth, with players from both teams seeing advancements in their rankings after the initial four matches, as reported by the ICC.
Impactful Performances by New Zealand Bowlers
New Zealand's triumph in the third T20I held in Auckland was particularly significant, highlighted by Lockie Ferguson's exceptional bowling figures of 1/9, which earned him the Player of the Match title. This performance has elevated Ferguson 12 spots to a tie for 39th in the T20I bowler rankings.
Other bowlers who have made notable gains include Ben Sears, who jumped 20 positions to 59th, Kyle Jamieson, who moved up five places to 76th, and Zakary Foulkes, who climbed eight spots to 81st, all thanks to their consistent performances.
South African Bowlers Also Make Gains
South Africa's bowlers have similarly experienced upward movement in the rankings. Stand-in captain Keshav Maharaj has ascended five places to 47th, while Ottneil Baartman has improved by seven spots to 66th, and Gerald Coetzee has made a remarkable leap of 46 places to 88th.
All-rounder George Linde has been a bright spot for South Africa, moving up one position to 22nd in the T20I all-rounder rankings after contributing effectively with both bat and ball. At the top of this category, Zimbabwe's veteran Sikandar Raza maintains his lead.
T20I Batter Rankings Remain Stable
In the T20I batter rankings, there have been minimal changes, with India's Abhishek Sharma holding onto the No.1 position, followed closely by his teammate Ishan Kishan. India’s captain, Suryakumar Yadav, has advanced two spots to seventh, while New Zealand's Tim Robinson has risen to 34th after a solid performance in Wellington.
Conversely, Tim Seifert and Dewald Brevis have seen their rankings decline due to their absence in several matches during the series.
