Ness Wadia Celebrates Punjab Kings' Victory with Shreyas Iyer in Heartwarming Moment
Celebration at the Team Hotel
Ness Wadia, co-owner of Punjab Kings, is typically seen as a cheerful figure, often sporting a smile. However, on the evening of June 1, following Punjab Kings' 5-wicket victory over Mumbai Indians that secured their spot in the finals, he was unexpectedly caught in a joyful celebration at the team hotel. During the festivities, players were enjoying cake, and captain Shreyas Iyer was present. Wadia took the initiative to cut the cake and offered the first slice to Iyer. In a moment of excitement, he embraced Iyer and placed a kiss on his cheek. Initially taken aback, Iyer turned around slowly and, with a hint of humor, used a tissue to wipe his face.

Shreyas Iyer's Unique Reaction
Earlier, Iyer's understated celebration after hitting the winning shot against MI's Ashwini drew attention online. He displayed little emotion, simply walking off the pitch after being hugged by Marcus Stoinis, who was at the non-striker's end. Iyer's only action was to discard his chewing gum on the field, maintaining a composed demeanor despite the victory.
Match presenter Harsha Bhogle commented on Iyer's ability to remain calm even in high-pressure situations. Iyer shared insights into his approach, emphasizing the importance of breathing techniques, especially before significant matches. He stated,
"I love such big occasions and I always tell myself and my teammates that the bigger the occasion, the calmer you should be to achieve the best results. Today, I focused heavily on my breathing rather than getting too anxious out there."
Iyer's Leadership Journey
This marks Shreyas Iyer's third time leading a team to the finals, but notably, it is with his third different franchise. He previously reached the finals with Delhi Capitals in 2020 and secured a title with Kolkata Knight Riders in 2024. Now, after 11 years, he has guided Punjab Kings to the finals! In the current season, he has already scored 603 runs, averaging over 54. In the recent match, he remained unbeaten at 87, playing a crucial role in Punjab's successful chase. With just one match left, he aims to clinch his second consecutive title as captain.
