However, on the evening of June 1, following Punjab Kings' 5-wicket victory over Mumbai Indians that secured their spot in the finals, he was unexpectedly caught in a joyful celebration at the team hotel. During the festivities, players were enjoying cake, and captain Shreyas Iyer was present. Wadia took the initiative to cut the cake and offered the first slice to Iyer. In a moment of excitement, he embraced Iyer and placed a kiss on his cheek. Initially taken aback, Iyer turned around slowly and, with a hint of humor, used a tissue to wipe his face.
