In Chorzow, the 27-year-old Indian athlete found himself in third place after his initial five throws. He saved his best performance for last, launching his javelin to a distance of 84.14m, which secured him the second position despite challenging wet conditions.

Neeraj's throw pushed Grenada's Anderson Peters into third place, with Peters recording a best throw of 83.24m in the third round. Weber's second-round throw of 86.12m ensured his place at the top of the podium.

Neeraj faced difficulties in his early attempts, starting with a foul throw and following it up with a throw of 81.28m in his second attempt. His struggles continued with two consecutive fouls in the third and fourth rounds.

This event marked Neeraj's 22nd consecutive tournament where he finished in the top two, with his last performance outside the top two dating back to 2021.

The Chorzow meet was Neeraj's third competitive event of the 2025 athletics season. He previously triumphed at the Potch Invitational Meet in Potchefstroom, South Africa, with a throw of 84.52m in April.

The meet record for men's javelin throw at the Janusz Kusocinski Memorial is held by Czechia's Jan Zelezny, who is also Neeraj's current coach.
