Star Indian hockey player Navneet Kaur recently showcased her talent at the FIH World Cup Qualifiers, where she was honored with the Player of the Tournament award. She expressed gratitude towards her teammates for their unwavering support and trust throughout the tournament.


During the qualifiers held in Hyderabad, Navneet scored a stunning hat-trick against Wales, leading India to a 4-1 victory. This win not only propelled India into the semifinals but also secured their place in the upcoming Women's Hockey World Cup. Despite a strong performance, India faced a setback in the final, losing 2-0 to England. Navneet's impressive scoring made her the third-highest goal-scorer of the tournament.


Teamwork Behind Individual Success

In an interview, Navneet reflected on her achievements, stating that while winning the Player of the Tournament award brought her joy, it was the collective effort of her team that made it possible. "Receiving such an award is always gratifying, but it wouldn't have happened without the trust and support of my teammates. It was truly a team effort," she remarked.

Discussing her hat-trick against Wales, Navneet emphasized the importance of self-belief and confidence in her gameplay. She mentioned, "I always play with confidence and aim to score whenever I can. However, my focus is on giving my best, regardless of the number of goals I score."

Looking ahead to the FIH World Cup in August and the Asian Games in September, Navneet acknowledged that while the team performed admirably in the qualifiers, there are still areas that require improvement. "We did well in the tournament, but we have aspects to work on before the World Cup and the Asian Games," she stated.

At the recent 8th Hockey India Annual Awards, Navneet Kaur and Hardik Singh were awarded the prestigious Hockey India Balbir Singh Sr. Award for Player of the Year 2025, each receiving INR 20 lakh in recognition of their outstanding performances in their respective categories.
