Nandre Burger Faces Hamstring Injury During ODI Against India
Nandre Burger Suffers Hamstring Injury
Nandre Burger, the left-arm fast bowler from South Africa, has sustained a hamstring injury while bowling in the second ODI of the three-match series against India at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium, as reported by ESPNcricinfo.
The injury occurred during his seventh over when he struggled with his run-up and seemed to have difficulty landing on his right leg. After being attended to by the South African physiotherapist, Burger opted to leave the field. Aiden Markram stepped in to complete the over. Initial evaluations suggest that Burger has injured his right hamstring.
Proteas' Pace Woes Deepen
This injury raises concerns about Burger's availability for the upcoming third ODI against India on Saturday. He is not included in the five-match T20I series against India, where Anrich Nortje is set to return. Reports indicate that Nortje may join the squad sooner if South Africa requires additional pace for the third ODI. The team is already missing Kagiso Rabada due to a rib issue and Gerald Coetzee, who was not selected for this tour.
Burger's Injury-Plagued Career
Burger has faced numerous injuries throughout his career, including a significant lower back stress fracture that sidelined him from October 2024 until September of this year.
