N Jagadeesan to Step in for Injured Rishabh Pant in Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025
Jagadeesan Takes the Spotlight
Following Rishabh Pant's unfortunate injury, N Jagadeesan has emerged as the leading candidate to fill his spot in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025. The 29-year-old wicketkeeper-batter from Tamil Nadu is expected to be officially named as Pant's replacement ahead of the series' fifth and final Test.
Pant sustained a fracture to his right toe during the opening day of the fourth Test at Old Trafford in Manchester. Medical assessments confirmed that he would not participate in the remainder of the series.
In the wake of Pant's injury, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), along with the national selectors and team management, began evaluating potential replacements. Initially, Ishan Kishan was considered as a backup option, but it was later determined that the 27-year-old from Jharkhand would not be in contention.
This opened the door for Jagadeesan, who has been performing consistently well domestically. He is set to join the team before the last Test, presenting him with a significant opportunity to make an impact on the international stage during this prestigious series.
