Mustafizur Rahman Shines in IPL 2025 Ahead of Joining Delhi Capitals

Bangladesh's leading pacer, Mustafizur Rahman, showcased his skills with a stellar performance against the UAE in Abu Dhabi, just before joining Delhi Capitals for IPL 2025. His impressive bowling figures helped turn the game around, leading to a crucial victory. Despite initial confusion regarding his participation, the Bangladesh Cricket Board has since issued a No Objection Certificate, allowing him to play in the tournament. This acquisition is expected to strengthen the Capitals' squad as they head into the later stages of the IPL season.

Mustafizur Rahman's Stellar Performance

Before his upcoming stint with Delhi Capitals in IPL 2025, Bangladesh's star fast bowler, Mustafizur Rahman, delivered an impressive performance against the UAE in Abu Dhabi. The Capitals secured Mustafizur's services after Jake Fraser-McGurk from Australia withdrew from the tournament due to personal matters. In this match, Mustafizur's bowling figures of 4 overs, 17 runs, and 2 wickets were remarkable, especially on a pitch that favored batsmen in a high-scoring game.

While chasing a target of 192, the UAE found themselves needing just 38 runs off the last 18 balls, with Asif Khan at 40 runs off 16 balls. However, Mustafizur changed the momentum in the 18th over, conceding only three runs and bringing Bangladesh back into contention.

Delhi Capitals have acquired Mustafizur for a sum of Rs 6 crore to bolster their squad for the latter stages of the IPL. Initially, there was some confusion when the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) claimed they were not informed about the agreement. This confusion was later resolved when the BCB issued a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for Mustafizur to participate.

The BCB released a statement confirming the NOC:

BCB's Official Statement

“As per the decision of BCB Cricket Operations, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has granted a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to national team pace bowler Mustafizur Rahman for his participation in the ongoing IPL 2025 in India, for the period from 18 to 24 May, 2025.”
