Mumbai Indians Prepare for IPL 2026

The Mumbai Indians are gearing up for IPL 2026, having made significant preparations. Last season, they reached the Eliminator 2 but faced defeat against the Punjab Kings. This time, they are set to field a robust playing eleven.

Following the mega auction, the Mumbai Indians appear to have strengthened their lineup considerably. A key challenge for the team will be deciding which four foreign players to include in the playing eleven. Recently, former captain Harbhajan Singh shared his insights on this matter.

Harbhajan Singh's Insights on Foreign Players for Mumbai Indians

During a discussion on Star Sports, Harbhajan suggested that the Mumbai Indians might choose four players from Quinton de Kock, Ryan Rickelton, Trent Boult, Allah Gajanfar, and Sherfane Rutherford for their playing eleven. Reports indicate that de Kock could open the innings alongside Rohit Sharma in the initial matches.

Conversely, Rickelton may not make the cut due to his recent form. Harbhajan believes that on spin-friendly pitches, the team might opt for Will Jacks over the Caribbean big-hitter Rutherford.

Harbhajan Singh's Comments

Harbhajan stated,

“To start, either Quinton de Kock or Ryan Rickelton will be included in the playing eleven to open the innings. As for the bowlers, Trent Boult will undoubtedly be another key player in the team. Allah Gajanfar is definitely someone who will be part of this squad.”

He further added,

“Another player could be either Rutherford or Will Jacks. If I were part of the team management, I would be eager to play Rutherford, although it also depends on the pitch conditions. If we were playing in Chennai, I would prefer to include Will Jacks, as he can also bowl a few overs for the team.”
