The Mumbai Indians, who have clinched the IPL title five times, are gearing up for the 2026 season, set to kick off on March 28. Following India's successful T20 World Cup run earlier this year, two of the country's prominent players, Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah, are reuniting in the MI squad for the upcoming tournament.

Since their respective debuts with the franchise in 2013 and 2015, Bumrah and Pandya have played crucial roles in the team's achievements. Their return together has generated excitement, particularly after an intense practice session.

Training Duel: Bumrah vs Hardik

A training video showcased Hardik starting off strong, hitting consecutive boundaries against Bumrah. However, the fast bowler countered with a classic yorker that knocked the bails off, emphasizing the competitive spirit within the team as they ramp up their preparations.

In this thrilling exchange: First ball - Hardik hits a no-look six. Second ball - he scores four runs. Third ball - Bumrah delivers a lethal yorker and takes him out.

Interestingly, the two have faced each other only once in IPL history. In the 2022 season, Hardik managed to score a four and two singles off Bumrah in a brief three-ball encounter, giving him a slight edge in their only official meeting.

Both players are coming off impressive performances in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. Bumrah was the joint-highest wicket-taker with 14 wickets in eight matches, including a pivotal four-wicket haul in the final, earning him the Player of the Match title. Hardik contributed significantly with 217 runs at a strike rate of 160.74 and took nine wickets, showcasing his all-round capabilities.

The Mumbai Indians are looking to leverage their recent form as they aim for a record sixth IPL title. After finishing third last season, they will kick off their campaign against the Kolkata Knight Riders at home on March 29.
