Dhoni's Return to Social Media

Ahmedabad: Following India's remarkable T20 World Cup victory, Mahendra Singh Dhoni made a notable return to social media after nearly two years. He took the chance to compliment head coach Gautam Gambhir, highlighting how a smile enhances his serious demeanor.

Dhoni's last post on Instagram dated back to 2024.

He expressed his joy, stating, "History is made in Ahmedabad. Huge congratulations to the team, support staff, and fans of the Indian Cricket Team globally. It was a delight to witness your performance." This message came after India secured a stunning 96-run victory over New Zealand, clinching the trophy for the third time.

He humorously remarked, "Coach Sahab, your smile is a fantastic addition to your intensity; it's a winning combination. Enjoy, but it's better if I don't comment on Bumrah!" referring to Gambhir's typically serious expression.

Gambhir replied, expressing his happiness at seeing Dhoni at the stadium, saying, "What a reason to smile, great to see you!" The former opener was instrumental in India's victories in the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2011 ODI World Cup under Dhoni's captaincy.

India showcased an impressive performance led by Suryakumar Yadav, with top-order batsmen Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan, and Abhishek Sharma contributing significantly to a record total of 255/5 after being invited to bat by New Zealand.

Bumrah delivered an exceptional bowling performance, taking four wickets for just 15 runs.

Dhoni was the first captain to lead India to a T20 World Cup victory in 2007, and Rohit Sharma later secured a second title in 2024.
