Mohammad Rizwan Struggles in Big Bash League Despite Playing All Matches
Rizwan's Underwhelming Performance in the Big Bash League
Mohammad Rizwan is among the few Pakistani players participating in every match of this season's Big Bash League. Currently playing for the Melbourne Renegades, the former captain has not been able to impress with his performance. The start of the new year did not bring any change in his fortunes, as he struggled against the Sydney Sixers, managing only six runs at a disappointing strike rate of 60.
After Tim Seifert was dismissed in the second over, Rizwan came in to bat at number three. Partnering with Josh Brown, he contributed to a 44-run partnership, but Rizwan's innings consisted of just 43 runs off 19 balls, including three fours and four sixes, at an impressive strike rate of 226.32. However, he failed to hit a boundary while at the crease, which raised concerns about his ability to capitalize on scoring opportunities.
Following Brown's dismissal, Rizwan's batting faltered, and the pressure mounted on the wicketkeeper-batsman, leading to his dismissal for just six runs off ten balls against Ben Dwarshuis. In modern T20 cricket, a strike rate of 60 is considered subpar, especially when a teammate is scoring at over 200.
Throughout this season, Rizwan has played all four matches for the Melbourne Renegades but has only managed to score 58 runs. His average stands at 14.4, with a strike rate of just 100, which is quite mediocre. The Renegades had high expectations from the Pakistani player, as he is batting in the top three of the lineup.
