Mitchell Marsh praised his team's unified performance after scoring a crucial 90 runs, guiding the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) to a seven-wicket triumph against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) during their IPL 2026 match on Saturday night in Lucknow.

Recognized as the Player of the Match, Marsh expressed that this win was a significant morale booster for the team amid a challenging season. "It's great to finally secure a win; they have been rare for us this season. We have remained united as a team, and it's rewarding to see that pay off tonight," he remarked during the post-match interview.

He also emphasized the positive atmosphere within the squad, particularly appreciating the contributions from younger players. "We have fantastic individuals in this group, including some talented youngsters."

Partnership and Pitch Insights

Discussing his opening partnership with fellow Australian Josh Inglis, Marsh noted their strong understanding helped alleviate pressure during the innings. "He really helps take the pressure off me. We grew up playing together for Western Australia, so we know each other well, and it was a solid partnership tonight."

On the pitch conditions, Marsh mentioned that the initial overs were tough but became easier as the batters settled in. "The first few overs can be challenging, and at the start of the tournament, we often found ourselves two or three wickets down. However, it’s a good wicket once you get going. It somewhat reminds me of Perth Stadium," he added.

Reflecting on his dismissal, he humorously stated, "Cricket is a funny game, isn't it?"

Pant Highlights Team Clarity

In the meantime, LSG captain Rishabh Pant acknowledged the team's collective effort and clarity in their roles as pivotal to their seven-wicket victory over CSK. During the post-match presentation, Pant remarked that this win was crucial for boosting team morale and showcased their commitment despite a tough season. "It feels great to win. We take pride in having a lot to play for, regardless of how the season unfolds," he stated.

He also commended pacer Akash Singh for his disciplined bowling and consistent execution of plans. "He has been putting in a lot of effort. Sometimes, it’s tough to give everyone a game, but he consistently sticks to the plan, which paid off well today," Pant noted.

Pant elaborated on the tactical decision to promote Josh Inglis and another overseas player up the batting order, with Nicholas Pooran batting at number three, highlighting their adaptable strategy. "The initial thought was to have two overseas players open, with Nicky (Pooran) batting third. It has been working well for us with four fast bowlers," he explained.
