Mitchell Marsh Achieves 1000 IPL Runs Milestone for Lucknow Super Giants
Marsh Reaches 1000 Runs in IPL
Mitchell Marsh has become the fourth player from the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) to reach the significant milestone of 1000 runs in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He accomplished this feat during a match against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Chepauk on Sunday. Marsh now joins an elite group that includes Nicholas Pooran (1564 runs), KL Rahul (1410 runs), and Ayush Badoni (1135 runs). In this match, he scored 10 runs, including a six, and took just 24 innings to achieve this milestone, making him the fastest player from his franchise to do so. Currently, he has accumulated a total of 1003 runs for LSG.
Fastest Players to 1000 IPL Runs
Chris Gayle holds the record for the quickest to reach 1000 runs, achieving this in just 20 innings for RCB. Shaun Marsh followed closely with 21 innings for Punjab Kings (previously Kings XI Punjab), while Lendl Simmons and KL Rahul both reached the milestone in 23 innings, with Simmons playing for MI and Rahul for PBKS.
Recap of LSG's Innings
In the match, LSG opted to bat first and started strong, putting immediate pressure on the bowlers. Josh Inglis set the pace by scoring 16 runs in the opening over bowled by Akeal Hosein, a left-arm spinner.
By the end of three overs, LSG had raced to 40 runs without losing a wicket, with Inglis leading an aggressive batting approach. They crossed the 50-run mark in the fourth over, marking their joint-fastest team fifty in IPL history. Their previous record for the quickest half-century, achieved in just 3.4 overs, was also against the Chennai Super Kings in 2023.
Mid-Innings Challenges
However, LSG faced difficulties as they slipped to 147/6 after a rapid start, losing wickets at regular intervals. By the end of the 17th over, they managed to reach 167/6. In the final overs, Himmat Singh contributed 17 runs off 12 balls, while Shahbaz Ahmed remained unbeaten with 43 runs off 25 balls, helping LSG finish their innings at 203/8 in 20 overs.
For CSK, Jamie Overton took 3 wickets for 36 runs, Anshul Kamboj claimed 2 for 47, and Noor Ahmad picked up 1 wicket for 24 runs.
