Mercedes Mone Triumphs in Historic 1000th Match on AEW Dynamite
Mercedes Mone's Milestone Victory
This week marked a significant milestone for All Elite Wrestling (AEW) and its standout female wrestler, Mercedes Mone. During a key match on the landmark 300th episode of AEW Dynamite, Mone successfully defended her title for the first time.
In this special episode, Mercedes Mone (c) faced off against Mina Shirakawa, successfully retaining her TBS Women’s Championship. This match also celebrated Mone's 1000th career bout, during which she showcased her prowess while holding five championship belts and aiming for a sixth—the AEW Women’s World Championship.
Mercedes Mone Achieves Victory in Her 1000th Match
The match commenced with both competitors exchanging submission holds, with Shirakawa applying a damaging Figure Four Leglock on Mone. As Toni Storm observed from ringside, the action spilled outside the ring, where Shirakawa landed several strikes before Mone countered with a Meteora.
Shirakawa returned to the fray, targeting Mone's injured knee with another Figure Four, but the champion managed to escape with a rope break. A powerful roundhouse kick from Shirakawa led to a near fall after a Glamorous Driver. However, Mone retaliated with two fierce Lungblowers, ultimately securing the victory with an inside cradle.
Following the match, Shirakawa was visibly shocked by the outcome, prompting Storm to rush into the ring to confront Mone. However, Mone chose to exit the ring after downing Storm and indulged in a cake prepared to celebrate her 1000th match.
With this victory, Mercedes Mone extends her reign as the TBS Champion, which has now surpassed 400 days since she first claimed the title at last year's Double or Nothing pay-per-view. Mone is also set to challenge Toni Storm for the AEW Women’s World Championship in just ten days at All In: Texas.
