Cucurella's Move to Real Madrid Confirmed

London [UK], June 15: Reports indicate that Chelsea has reached an agreement to transfer star player Marc Cucurella to Real Madrid, according to sources from a prominent sports network.

Currently representing Spain in the United States for the FIFA World Cup, Cucurella's transfer will be finalized once the tournament concludes.

Numerous clubs expressed interest in acquiring the Euro 2024 standout, but the former Barcelona player has opted to join their rivals, Real Madrid. There were speculations about a potential return to Barcelona, as well as interest from Atletico Madrid and Manchester City.

The transfer fee is set at £47.5 million, with an additional £4.3 million in performance-related bonuses, totaling £51.8 million. Chelsea had previously signed Cucurella from Brighton for £63 million four years ago. During his time at Chelsea, he helped the team secure the UEFA Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup.

Cucurella had previously voiced concerns regarding Chelsea's transfer strategies, particularly after the departure of Enzo Maresca earlier this year. Chelsea's performance in the Premier League was less than stellar, finishing in 10th place with a record of 14 wins, 10 draws, and 14 losses, accumulating only 52 points.

Real Madrid has been active in the transfer market following a trophyless 2025-26 season, with Florentino Perez recently re-elected as club president. The club has also welcomed back legendary manager Jose Mourinho, who previously led the team from 2010 to 2013, securing a La Liga title. New signings, including Ibrahima Konate, Denzel Dumfries, and Bernardo Silva, have already been confirmed.

Additionally, Netherlands defender Jorrel Hato, who joined Ajax last summer, is now a strong candidate to become Chelsea's primary left-back for the upcoming season.
