Major League Pickleball Mid-Season Tournament Set for Grand Rapids
Exciting Mid-Season Tournament in Grand Rapids
From July 8 to 12, all 20 teams of Major League Pickleball (MLP) will gather in Grand Rapids, Michigan, for the Mid-Season Tournament. This event is crucial as it provides essential standing points, cash rewards, and serves as a preparation ground for the playoffs. Additionally, it will kick off the One Point Challenge, where 128 amateur doubles teams will vie for a prize of $25,000. This tournament stands out due to its inclusive format, allowing all franchises to compete at the same venue, impacting overall standings and playoff eligibility.
The second trade window will remain open until July 12, enabling last-minute roster adjustments through trades and waiver claims, with a minimum bid of $1,000. The One Point Challenge will feature a single-elimination format, allowing amateur players to compete alongside professionals, enhancing their visibility for future MLP or pro events.
The anticipation for the Grand Rapids event is heightened following the recent performances, particularly by the New Jersey 5s, who recently secured their third consecutive title at MLP New York on June 28. The Brooklyn Pickleball Team earned 18 points in that event, while the Texas Ranchers followed closely with 15 points in crucial matches. With more points at stake, the Grand Rapids tournament could significantly influence the playoff landscape.
