Mahendra Singh Dhoni, born on July 7, 1981, in Ranchi, is celebrated as one of India's most accomplished cricketers. He made his ODI debut against Bangladesh in 2004 and played his last international match during the 2019 World Cup semi-final against New Zealand on July 9-10. Dhoni announced his retirement from international cricket on August 15, 2020.


Under his captaincy, India clinched all three major ICC titles: the 2007 T20 World Cup, the 2011 ODI World Cup, and the 2013 Champions Trophy. In Test cricket, he amassed 4,876 runs and achieved 294 dismissals across 90 matches before retiring from the format in December 2014. Dhoni holds the record for the most matches captained by an Indian, leading the team in 332 international games.


In the Indian Premier League (IPL), he has guided the Chennai Super Kings to five championship titles and holds the record for the most matches as captain in the league. Renowned for his calm demeanor and exceptional finishing abilities, Dhoni continues to be an iconic figure in both Indian and global cricket.
