Luis Diaz's Transfer to Bayern Munich

Munich, July 30: Luis Diaz has officially completed his transfer to Bayern Munich, signing a four-year contract that concludes his three-and-a-half-year tenure at Liverpool.

The German club has reportedly invested around £65 million to secure the services of the 28-year-old forward, who will don the number 14 jersey for Bayern until June 30, 2029.

Expressing his excitement, Diaz stated, “Being part of FC Bayern means a lot to me – it’s one of the largest clubs globally. I aim to contribute to my new team with my playing style and personality.”

Diaz made his way to Liverpool from FC Porto in January 2022 and quickly established himself as a vital player under former manager Jurgen Klopp.

He made an impressive debut at Anfield, showcasing his speed and skill. In his first half-season, he scored six goals and provided four assists in 26 matches, aiding Liverpool in clinching both the Carabao Cup and FA Cup, both decided by penalties against Chelsea. He also played in the Champions League final and narrowly missed out on the Premier League title that year.

A significant knee injury during the 2022-23 season temporarily hindered his progress, but Diaz made a strong recovery, gradually regaining his form. Over the next two seasons, he participated in 101 matches, netting 30 goals and assisting 10 times.

In the 2023-24 season, he added another League Cup to his accolades and adapted to a new role as a central striker under head coach Arne Slot. Diaz excelled in this position, scoring 17 goals across all competitions, including 13 in the Premier League, as Liverpool secured the league title with four matches remaining.

Notable highlights included a two-goal performance at Old Trafford and a hat-trick in the Champions League against Bayer Leverkusen. His final months with Liverpool were filled with title celebrations alongside fans, marking a memorable season.

In total, Diaz leaves Liverpool with four major trophies, including a Premier League title, and a reputation as one of the team's most exciting attackers.
