LSG's Disappointing Start

In their first match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) were dismissed for just 141 runs by the Delhi Capitals (DC) on Wednesday.

Batting first, LSG's captain Rishabh Pant opened the innings with Mitch Marsh at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. The pair began positively, but Pant's unfortunate dismissal triggered a rapid loss of wickets for the home team.

Marsh's straight drive deflected off Mukesh Kumar's hand, leading to Pant being run out at the non-striker's end.

Aiden Markram managed to hit a six and a four before being bowled by Axar Patel.

T Natarajan quickly dismissed Ayush Badoni, and Nicholas Pooran fell for a low score, caught by Lungi Ngidi.

Marsh's resilient innings of 35 runs from 28 balls, featuring three sixes and two fours, ended when he was caught by Kuldeep Yadav, who also took Mukul Choudhary's wicket with a simple caught and bowled.

Abdul Samad provided some late resistance, scoring 36 runs off 25 balls, and partnered with Shahbaz Ahmed, who remained not out on 15 runs from 16 balls.

Bowling Performance Summary

Lungi Ngidi's effective bowling helped limit LSG's total to 141 runs, as he claimed the wickets of several tailenders.

Both Ngidi and Natarajan took three wickets each, while Kuldeep Yadav secured two. Captain Axar Patel also contributed with a wicket of Markram.

Delhi Capitals' Chase

With the target set at 142 runs, the Delhi Capitals are poised to chase down the score and kick off their season on a high note.
