Guwahati, Oct 3: The parents of Lovlina Borgohain expressed immense joy following their daughter's victory in securing a gold medal at the Asian Games held in Japan. They shared their pride in her accomplishment, attributing it to her relentless dedication.


During an interview at their residence in Golaghat, her father, Tiken Borgohain, reminisced about Lovlina's previous silver medal win at the last Asian Games. He noted that she had always aspired to 'change the color of her medal to gold.'


"We are incredibly proud that she has realized her dream through hard work and has brought honor to our nation by winning the gold medal," he stated.


Tiken expressed gratitude to the people of Assam for their support and prayers for Lovlina's success. "We appreciate everyone for celebrating her victory and hope they continue to bless her in her future pursuits," he added.


Lovlina's mother, Mamoni Borgohain, shared the family's excitement over her daughter's achievement. "She has dedicated the last 15 years to her training, and winning the gold medal on her birthday is beyond words for us," she remarked.


When asked about Lovlina's future aspirations, Mamoni mentioned that her daughter dreams of winning an Olympic gold, but her immediate focus is on the upcoming world championships.


Lovlina connected with her parents via video call, expressing her happiness over the gold medal win. She informed them of her plans to return to New Delhi on October 4 and expected to arrive in Assam on October 6.


Additionally, she shared her intention to take her parents on their first international trip to Vietnam soon.


Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also reached out to Lovlina via phone to congratulate her on behalf of the state's residents.


He remarked that there is no greater gift one can give oneself on their birthday than achieving such a prestigious honor for the country.


"I just spoke with Lovlina and conveyed my best wishes on her birthday and for her remarkable gold medal at the Asian Games," Sarma posted on social media. "She is thrilled, and so are we. I look forward to meeting her when she returns to Guwahati," he added.


"We are immensely proud of you, Lovlina! The entire nation celebrates your achievement. Assam eagerly awaits your triumphant return. #Cheer4Bharat," he continued.


Sarma also extended birthday wishes to her, stating, "From Assam to the global stage, your journey exemplifies courage, determination, and an indomitable spirit. You have consistently made Assam proud," he said.


He expressed hope that the coming year would bring her joy, good health, and numerous opportunities for further success. "Keep inspiring us, champion!" he concluded.
