Salah's Struggles and Manager's Support

Liverpool's manager, Arne Slot, expressed that he is not concerned about Mohamed Salah's recent inability to score, despite the forward's goal drought extending to six matches.

The Egyptian striker has not netted a Premier League goal from open play since the season's opening weekend and was benched during Liverpool's 5-1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League earlier this week.

Salah was also substituted late in the previous week's 2-1 loss to Manchester United at Anfield after failing to convert two significant opportunities, even as Liverpool sought an equalizer.

Ahead of the upcoming match against Brentford, Slot mentioned he is unsure why Salah, who claimed the Premier League Golden Boot last season, is currently struggling.

"In football, players miss chances, and Mo is human too," Slot stated during his pre-match press briefing.

"It's unusual for him to miss opportunities, especially in consecutive games, but such phases can occur."

Despite this, the Dutch manager remains optimistic that Salah, who has scored only two goals in eight Premier League appearances this season, will regain his scoring form.

"My last concern is Mo not scoring again," he remarked, emphasizing his belief in Salah's abilities.

"He has been a prolific scorer throughout his career, and I anticipate he will continue to do so for our club in the coming weeks and months."

Last season, Liverpool clinched the Premier League title and invested approximately £450 million ($600 million) on new signings during the summer transfer window.

With Trent Alexander-Arnold's transfer to Real Madrid and various injuries, Liverpool has utilized several players in the right-back position, including midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai.

Slot acknowledged that the team, including the 33-year-old Salah, is still adapting to these changes.

"He has frequently found himself in promising positions to score, but perhaps with Trent's absence, it has been more challenging, I can't say for sure," he added.

"Generally, when a squad undergoes significant changes in the summer, players need time to re-establish connections, and Mo is no exception."

Liverpool, who began the season with seven consecutive wins across all competitions, have now suffered three straight losses in the Premier League, placing them fourth in the standings, four points behind leaders Arsenal.

Injury updates indicate that Jeremie Frimpong and goalkeeper Alisson Becker will miss the Brentford match due to hamstring issues, while Slot is awaiting news on Alexander Isak, who sustained a groin injury midweek, and midfielder Ryan Gravenberch.
