Lakshya Sen Shines While HS Prannoy Struggles at Macau Open

Macau [China], July 30: In a mixed bag of performances at the Macau Open, Commonwealth Games champion Lakshya Sen progressed to the pre-quarterfinals, while World Championships medalist HS Prannoy faced another disappointing exit.
Prannoy, who recently lost to Chou Tien-chen from Chinese Taipei at the China Open, suffered a defeat against Indonesia's Yohanes Saut Marcellyno. The match, which lasted for one hour and eleven minutes, ended with scores of 21-18, 15-21, and 16-21.
This year has been challenging for Prannoy, as he has yet to reach the quarterfinals in any tournament.
In contrast, Lakshya Sen showcased his skills by defeating South Korea's Jeon Hyeok-jin with a score of 21-8, 21-14, securing his place in the round of 16.
Additionally, 20-year-old Ayush Shetty, a medalist at the World Junior Championships, also advanced to the final 16 after a convincing win over Huang YK from Chinese Taipei, with scores of 21-10, 21-11.
In the women's singles, young talent Anmol Kharb was eliminated in the round of 32 by Thailand's Busanan Ongbamrungphan, with a close score of 21-23, 11-21.
Another promising player, Unnati Hooda, was unable to progress to the pre-quarters, losing to Denmark's Julie Dawall Jakobsen in a tightly contested match that ended 21-16, 19-21, 17-21.
In mixed doubles, the duo of Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto advanced to the final 16, defeating Thailand's Ratchapol Makkasasithorn and Ruethaichanok Laisuan in a match that lasted just 26 minutes, with scores of 21-10, 21-15.
