Concerns Arise Over Mbappe's Injury Management

Paris [France], March 25 (News Media): Real Madrid's star forward Kylian Mbappe is facing serious concerns regarding his injury, which has reportedly been misdiagnosed, potentially jeopardizing his participation in this year's FIFA World Cup.

According to reports from The Athletic, as cited by Goal.com, the French international is 'furious' after the medical team mistakenly scanned the incorrect leg while assessing his knee injury, leading to a premature clearance for him to play.

This incident has been a significant factor in Mbappe's decision to part ways with his medical staff earlier this year. Following his dismissal at the end of 2023, Dr. Niko Mihic was reinstated as the head of the medical department, which had only recently undergone restructuring last summer. Frequent staff changes in the medical team are common, as they have faced criticism for the high number of injuries, with players like Jude Bellingham and Alvaro Carreras also sidelined.

After the erroneous scan, Mbappe continued to play despite discomfort, with the club labeling his injury as one that would be evaluated on a game-by-game basis, expecting a swift recovery. He missed two matches in January and three at the beginning of March. Following speculation of a cruciate ligament injury, he made a comeback for the UEFA Champions League round of 16 against Manchester City last week.

On Monday, Mbappe addressed his injury, stating, as reported by Goal.com, 'My knee is fine. It is improving. Things are going well, and I know there has been a lot of speculation and misinformation. This is part of being a top-level athlete. We are accustomed to people making statements without verification or basis.' He emphasized that he is '100 percent fit.'

Mbappe confirmed that he received a comprehensive diagnosis in Paris and collaborated on a plan to regain peak performance for both Real Madrid and the upcoming World Cup.

Now fully fit, Mbappe has been selected for the French national team for the upcoming friendlies leading up to the FIFA World Cup. Despite his injury challenges, he has maintained impressive form, scoring 38 goals and providing six assists in 35 matches for Real Madrid this season.
