Mbappe Joins the Ranks of Legends

Madrid, Spain - On July 29, Real Madrid officially welcomed Kylian Mbappe as the latest player to wear the prestigious number 10 jersey, a number that has been associated with several football legends.

In a post on X, Real Madrid confirmed that Mbappe has taken over the number from club icon Luka Modric, who recently concluded his illustrious career with the team after the Club World Cup. This number has been worn by greats such as Mesut Ozil, Luis Figo, Clarence Seedorf, and Ferenc Puskas, all of whom have carried the weight of this significant jersey.

Despite his impressive goal-scoring record, Mbappe has faced scrutiny regarding his ability to lead the team to success. After transferring from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) to Madrid, PSG went on to win their first UEFA Champions League title and reached the Club World Cup final without him.

In La Liga, Mbappe scored 31 goals, earning him the title of top scorer, yet Real Madrid's season ended without any trophies, highlighted by a 4-0 defeat to PSG in the Club World Cup semi-finals.

Shifting focus to international duties, Mbappe recently scored his 50th goal for France in a 2-0 victory over Germany in Stuttgart. Germany had several chances to score, with Florian Wirtz hitting the post. However, just before halftime, Mbappe found the net, giving France the lead.

This goal brings him closer to Thierry Henry, as he is now just one goal shy of matching the French legend's record in the national team's all-time scoring list. In the final moments of the match, Mbappe assisted Michael Olise, who came off the bench to secure the win for France.
