The IPL 2026 auction witnessed Kolkata Knight Riders making headlines by investing a staggering Rs 25.20 crore on Australian all-rounder Cameron Green, setting a new record for the highest price paid for an overseas player. Additionally, they secured Sri Lankan fast bowler Matheesha Pathirana for Rs 18 crore, marking him as the most expensive Sri Lankan player in IPL history.


The auction also saw intense competition for uncapped Indian talents, with 20-year-old spinner Prashant Veer and 19-year-old wicketkeeper-batter Kartik Sharma both being acquired by Chennai Super Kings for Rs 14.20 crore each, making them the highest-paid uncapped players to date.
