Kohli and Arshdeep Share a Humorous Moment After Series Win
Kohli and Arshdeep's Witty Exchange
In a light-hearted video shared by the Punjab Kings (PBKS) social media account, Virat Kohli was seen joking with Indian fast bowler Arshdeep Singh following India's decisive victory over South Africa on Saturday.
India successfully limited South Africa to 270 runs, thanks to impressive four-wicket performances from Prasidh Krishna and Kuldeep Yadav. In reply, openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma formed a formidable partnership, scoring 155 runs for the first wicket, with Jaiswal achieving a century and Rohit contributing 75 runs. Kohli finished the chase with a brisk 65 runs off 45 balls, entering the match after scoring two centuries in the previous games of the series.
In the video, Arshdeep humorously remarked to Kohli that had the target been higher, Kohli would have likely secured a third consecutive century. "Paaji, run kam rehgaye, century aaj pakki thi waise (Brother, the target wasn't big enough, otherwise a century seemed certain)," Arshdeep quipped. Kohli playfully replied, "Toss jeet gaye, nahi toh teri bhi pakki thi dew mein (Be thankful we won the toss or even you would have been hit for a century in the dew!)." Watch the video here.
India Clinch Series in Decider
The dew factor significantly influenced the series decider, as India opted to bowl first. As the match progressed into the evening, the moisture on the pitch created challenging conditions for the South African bowlers.
Proteas Stumble Despite de Kock's Ton
Batting first, South Africa faced early trouble, losing Ryan Rickelton for a duck. However, a solid 113-run partnership between Quinton de Kock (106 runs off 89 balls, including eight fours and six sixes) and captain Temba Bavuma (48 runs off 67 balls, with five fours) provided some stability.
De Kock also formed a 54-run partnership with Matthew Breetzke (24 runs off 23 balls, with two sixes), but the Proteas faltered, losing five wickets for 199 runs. Prasidh Krishna's impressive bowling (4/66) caused significant disruption. Dewald Brevis (29 runs off 29 balls, with two fours and a six) and Marco Jansen (17 runs off 15 balls, with two fours) attempted to counterattack, but Kuldeep's excellent spell (4/41) led to South Africa being bowled out for 270 runs in 47.5 overs, collapsing from a strong position of 234/5.
Jaiswal and Rohit Lead Dominant Chase
India successfully chased down the target in 39.5 overs, with Rohit Sharma (75 runs off 73 balls, including seven fours and three sixes) forming a 155-run partnership with Yashasvi Jaiswal, who celebrated his maiden ODI century. Jaiswal finished with an unbeaten 116 runs off 121 balls, featuring 12 fours and three sixes, and also shared a century partnership with Kohli (65* off 45 balls, with six fours and three sixes), concluding the series on a high note.
