KL Rahul Applauds Fearless Young Indian Batters in IPL 2026
KL Rahul Celebrates the New Wave of Indian Batters
KL Rahul, a prominent player for the Delhi Capitals (DC), has expressed admiration for the bold and aggressive style of the new generation of Indian cricketers. He specifically mentioned emerging talents such as Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Ayush Mhatre, who are making significant impacts in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Rahul pointed out that these young athletes approach the game without fear, taking on elite bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah and Pat Cummins with an attacking mindset.
He emphasized that this shift in mentality marks a new era in Indian cricket, particularly in T20 formats, where players are now trained to prioritize power-hitting over traditional defensive strategies. Rahul credited the IPL for fostering this evolution, as young cricketers are now focused on consistently hitting sixes. He noted that their rigorous preparation instills confidence, a quality he is also striving to integrate into his own gameplay.
KL Rahul on the Impact of Young Cricketers
"The achievements of the new-age cricketers are remarkable. Vaibhav Suryavanshi has made a significant impact on world cricket, scoring two centuries at just 15 years old, something I could never have imagined at that age. Ayush Mhatre has also excelled, contributing to CSK's quick scoring. The level of talent emerging in India is impressive, especially in T20 cricket. These fearless youngsters are transforming the game," Rahul stated during an interview.
"They play without concern for reputations or match scenarios. Whether facing a top-tier bowler like Jasprit Bumrah or a veteran like Pat Cummins, they attack every delivery with the same vigor. Their approach is not influenced by the match's stage; they simply focus on hitting the ball out of the park. This mindset is essential for modern T20 cricket. Five years ago, we weren't producing as many six-hitting players as England or Australia. The IPL has changed that. Today's players have grown up aspiring to hit sixes, whereas we were taught to defend. In our time, hitting the ball in the air often meant being sidelined during practice. These young players dedicate themselves to mastering six-hitting, which is why they excel. I've recently spoken with Abhishek Sharma, and I've realized that their preparation is key to their confidence. It all boils down to their training intensity, which I am also trying to incorporate into my game," he added.
Emergence of Young Stars in IPL 2026
The 2026 season of the Indian Premier League has prominently featured young batters who are leading their teams in scoring. Players such as Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Priyansh Arya, Prabhsimran Singh, Sameer Rizvi, and Ayush Mhatre (whose season was unfortunately cut short due to a hamstring injury) have distinguished themselves with their explosive hitting and pivotal performances.
