In a thrilling semifinal match at the Syed Modi International Super 300 tournament held in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, former world number one Kidambi Srikanth secured his spot in the finals for the second time on the BWF World Tour in 2025. He triumphed over fellow Indian Mithun Manjunath with scores of 21-15, 19-21, and 21-13, a match that lasted 59 minutes.

Srikanth is set to face Hong Kong's Jason Gunawan in the final, who advanced after his opponent, Minoru Koga from Japan, retired with the score at 12-21, 21-8, and 11-0 in Gunawan's favor, as reported by the Badminton Association of India (BAI).

In women's doubles, the top-seeded duo of Gayatri Gopichand and Treesa Jolly also made it to the finals, defeating Malaysia's seventh seeds Ong Xin Yee and Carmen Ting with a score of 21-11, 21-15. They will compete against Japan's Kaho Osawa and Mai Tanabe in the championship match.

Unfortunately, India's journey in women's singles concluded as top seed Unnati Hooda and the impressive Tanvi Sharma were eliminated in the semifinals. Unnati lost to Turkey's fourth seed Neslihan Arin with scores of 15-21, 10-21, while Tanvi was defeated by Japan's fifth seed Hina Akechi, who won 21-17, 21-16.

India's mixed doubles hopes were also dashed when Hariharan Amsakarunan and Treesa Jolly fell to the eighth seeds Dejan Ferdinansyah and Bernadine Wardana, with a close score of 21-17, 21-19.
