Kerala Blasters FC Triumphs Over Mohammedan SC with 3-1 Victory
Kerala Blasters Secure a Strong Win
On Sunday, Kerala Blasters FC showcased a powerful performance in the second half, defeating Mohammedan SC 3-1 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi. This victory marks their fifth consecutive match without a loss in the Indian Super League 2025-26 season. Goals from Francisco Feuillassier, Victor Bertomeu, and Sreekuttan M S clinched the win for the home team, following an initial goal from Mahitosh Roy that had given the visitors a brief lead. Feuillassier's outstanding play earned him the Player of the Match title, as noted in a press release from the AIFF Media.
With this result, Ashley Westwood's team climbed to eighth place in the league standings, accumulating 14 points from 12 matches, while Mohammedan SC remains at the bottom with only three points from 11 games.
First Half: A Rollercoaster of Goals
Kerala Blasters started the match aggressively, controlling possession and testing the Mohammedan defense early on. Midfielder Kevin Yoke was particularly effective on the left side, consistently pushing forward and creating chances. Despite Kerala's dominance, Mohammedan's goalkeeper Padam Chettri made several crucial saves, including a remarkable one-handed stop against Yoke's header midway through the first half.
In a surprising turn of events, Mohammedan took the lead in the 42nd minute. Mahitosh Roy intercepted the ball in midfield, advanced, and unleashed a powerful shot from nearly 20 yards that found the top corner, giving the visitors an unexpected advantage.
However, Kerala quickly equalized just two minutes later. Feuillassier capitalized on a perfectly timed through ball from Yoke, finishing smoothly into the bottom corner to level the score before halftime.
Second Half: Kerala Takes Charge
The second half saw Kerala Blasters return with renewed energy, continuing to control the game's pace. Their efforts bore fruit in the 58th minute when Yoke provided another excellent cross, allowing Bertomeu to score with a well-placed header, putting the hosts ahead.
With the momentum on their side, Kerala pressed for a third goal. Substitute Sreekuttan nearly scored shortly after, hitting the crossbar with a deflected shot, while Mohammedan struggled to create significant opportunities.
The decisive moment came in the 74th minute when Kerala extended their lead. A well-executed play saw Feuillassier deliver a clever pass into the box, where Sreekuttan was perfectly positioned to tap in and make it 3-1.
Mohammedan's chances of a comeback were dashed in the 86th minute when Amarjit Singh received a second yellow card, leaving the visitors with ten men. This made it increasingly difficult for them to penetrate a solid Kerala defense.
The hosts managed the final minutes effectively, maintaining possession and controlling the game's tempo to secure the victory.
